This Merzouga Desert Trip from Ouarzazate is not a short weekend getaway, there is nothing more authentic to take a Sahara desert excursion to explore the magical landscape of the south of Morocco with a camel ride and spending night in a traditional Berber camp under stars.
Itinerary
Day 1
Ouarzazate – Skoura – Rose valley - Dades gorges
Morning departure to Dades gorges by the road of thousand kasbahs. On your way to the rose valley, you’ll see a couple of Berber farmers in Skoura palm groves. Visiting Amridel Kasbah and Rose valley of Kalaat Mgouna. Heading to the gorges it’s here you’ll appreciate the tranquility of Atlas mountains, have the chance to explore the scene of the daily life of Berber-Nomads isolated by the quiet mountain. Check into the hotel.
Day 2
Dades Gorges - Bomalne - Todra gorges – Erfoud - Merzouga
Have your breakfast and walk a little bit between the beautiful Canyons, before heading for Merzouga, through another kind of gorges, Todra ones, where you’ll stop for a while to refresh yourself by bathing in the cold water of the river. Merzouga Morocco’s only genuine Saharan Erg(250M high), one of those huge, drifting expanses of dunes that typify much of the Algerian Sahara. Your camels are load-up, it is here that you will ride off the ocean of the golden sand. While traveling to your camp you’ll appreciate the pure beauty of the landscape. night in the middle of the dunes, under the nomadic tent.
Day 3
Merzouga - Rissani – N’kob – Draa valley - Ouarzazate
You will wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes have your breakfast and drive to Ouarzazate via Rissani (Sijelmasa) one of these oldest cities in Morocco, and the capital of destiny Alaoui, this spot was centuries ago a very busy commercial trade center sun-Saharan African and to the North. You’ll pause in the nomadic market it’s considered the largest one in the whole south of Morocco, heading to Tazarine and a couple of other Berber villages. You will see the magnificent palm garden of the Draa valley and Agdez village. Arrive Ouarzazate check into the hotel and end of the trip…
